Thursday blackout to affect parts of Nairobi and 10 other counties

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power blackout that will affect parts of Nairobi and 10 other counties on Thursday, June 12, 2025.

In a notice issued on Wednesday night, June 11, 2025, the utility company stated that the electricity supply interruption, scheduled to begin at 8:00 am, is part of routine maintenance on the national power grid.

“Good evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow, 12.06.2025,” Kenya Power announced.

Specific counties

According to Kenya Power, the outage is set to affect customers in parts of Nairobi County starting from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The parts of the areas that will be mainly affected include part of Massari Road in Parklands, the whole of 4th Parklands, part of 3rd Parklands, Presidential Escort, and Diamond 1 & 2 Sky Mall.

Similarly, the blackout is set to affect part of Langata Road, Galleria Mall, Muiri Lane, Muiri Close, Mac Fly, Ola Petrol Stn, KWS Langata Barracks, Jambo Est, KRA Estate Langata, Camp David, Samaj, Shree Cutch, Carnivore Restaurant, Trident Park, Carnivore Water Splash, EPCO, West Park Police Line, Daisy Park Phenom Est, Phenom Park, Serene Park, Cale Infrastructure, Wildlife Club, Doroty Park, Tamarind and adjacent customers.

In Nyandarua County, the 9:00 am to 5:00 pm power interruption will affect the whole of Kwaharaka, Karangatha, Nyakio, Mukiri, the whole of Ragia, Cheese, Kenyatta Road, Magumu High School, the whole of Heni, the whole of Rwanyambo, Githioro, Gathanga, Bongo Girls and adjacent customers.

Residents in Samburu County from parts of Posta, Mugie Ranch, Churo, Tangulbel, Suguta Marmar, Kisima, Maralal Township, Maralal Water Supply, Poro Radar Stn, Loosuk and adjacent customers will be affected by the outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Meanwhile, in Uasin Gishu County, the 8:00 am to 5:00 pm blackout will affect the areas of Cheptiret Primary, Kapkoi, Chepkitiny, Kapkol, Bayete, Burnt Forest, Ngarua, Cherus, Kondoo, Kitingia, Ndanai and adjacent customers.

In Kisumu County, the 9:00 am to 5:00 pm will affect customers in Sajanarnd quarry, Ober Kamoth Market, Chuth Ber Market, Ujenzi Quarry, Bizons and adjacent customers.

In Busia County, the utility company announced that Bumala Market, Equity Bank, Bumala Police Station, Busire Catholic, Busire Village and adjacent customers will be affected by the blackout starting from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Similarly, in Kakamega County, the 9:00 am to 5:00 pm outage will affect areas of Shikoti, Tumaini, Eshiongo, Eshumiya and adjacent customers.

In Murang’a County, residents of Kenol Town, Komorori, Kenol DC Office, Kenol Education Office, Kenol Police, Kenol Law Court, Purple House Street, Kamengwa, Mgimu, Githanji Est, Kimorori and adjacent customers will experience power interruption from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In Kiambu County, part of Kikuyu town, Magana Complex, Muthiga, Gitaru, Kahuho, Kanjeru, Cura, Connix, Ondiri, Ruku, Kirangari, Sigona and adjacent customers will be affected by the 9:00 am to 5:00 pm blackout.

Moving to the coastal region, customers in parts of Mombasa County are set to experience a blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Specific areas include part of Nyali, Greenwood Drive, Light Academy, Mama Ngina Road, Greenwood Lane, Saitoti Heights, Greenwood Mall, Park Lane, Maasai Koroga, Mvita Heights, Coral Drive, Naivas Supermarket, Bombolulu, Kisimani, Makaburini and adjacent customers.

While in Kwale County, the 9:00 am to 5:00 pm blackout will affect customers in Neptune, Mwisho wa Lami, Lantana Galu, Lala Galu, Diani Beach Park, Pinewood, Koromandale, Sonrisa, Chale and adjacent customers.
