Nairobi: Albert Ojwang, 31, an internet influencer and a father of one child, died in a vague situation at the Central Center in Nairobi, thus provoking anger among Kenyans.

Police previously alleged that Ojwang died after hitting his head on the cell wall.
However, many of his family and Kenyans rejected the statement, demanding accountability after it became clear that his body had bruises on his shoulders and hands, a swollen face, and was bleeding in his nostrils and mouth.
Following public pressure, Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome ordered the suspension of officials immediately on Officers at the time of Ojwang’s death.

PC/W Debian Lusweti – Crime Unit Assistant
PC Peter Kimani – Cell protector
PC/W Evaine Kanyiri – a reporting office officer

The move followed an ongoing investigation by an independent authority to evaluate the police performance (IPOA), which previously confirmed that Ojwang died just an hour after being brought to the center.
IPOA investigators also found personalized items that had a blood spot on the cell he had been banned, which raised more questions about the circumstances of his death.

Why was Albert Ojwang arrested?
According to Kaja, Albert Ojwang was arrested following a complaint filed by Deputy Inspector General of the Kenyan Police Service, who allegedly allegedly been criticized.

In another statement, former police spokesman Charles Owino defended the decision to transfer Ojwang from Homa Bay to Nairobi for questioning, despite public concerns that the case was minimal.
He explained that Ojwang was being investigated by headquarters DCIwhich was authorized by the fact that the offense of publishing false information under the computer and networking law required professional investigation.
Owino noted that the investigation process involved analyzing data, phones and other digital evidence, which could only be handled properly by special teams in Nairobi.
