Did the process of arresting Ojwang fulfill legal standards

According to police, Ojwang was arrested Homa Bay on Saturday, June 7, by DCI officials on allegations of false publication.

He was transported to Nairobi and detained at the Police Station at 9:35 pm under the OB 136/7/6 of 2025.

He was later found to have lost consciousness in his cell during regular inspection and was declared dead in hospital.

IG Kaja confirmed that his arrest was fueled by complaints from Dig Lagat, who claimed Ojwang ruined him on social networks.

Since then Kanja has defended the arrest of the people as legitimate and stated that appropriate procedures were followed.

But the Jackoyah did not agree, making the historic decision of Miranda against Arizona as an example of how the suspects should be informed about their rights.

He questioned whether Ojwang was told the reason for his arrest, if he had access to legal attorneys, and if the arrested officers followed the appropriate procedure.

“In this case, if the complainant was Lagat, he really put it on Ob? We need to see that Ob because he was a complainant. Did he write that statement? We need to see that statement. Did he have evidence? We need to see the evidence. The Jackoya said.

He also questioned why Ojwang was transported from Homa Bay to Nairobi, rather than being dealt with internally.

Why Gachagua wants Lagat to be stopped at work

His remarks add to the growing public outcry that includes the statements of the former deputy president Rigathi Gachaguawho has also pointed a finger at Dig Lagat.

He claimed that the continued presence of Lagat in the office undermines the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
