Albert Ojwang’s father tells about the last times before his arrest and death of his son

The late Blogger Albert Ojwang has issued a heartfelt story about the last times he had shared with his son before being taken by police and died.

Ojwang, a new digital voice that emerged, died in a vague environment, a state of anger and call for justice across the country.

According to his father, Meshack Opiyo, was about noon their family in Homa Bay was suddenly entered by police officers.

Ojwang had returned home after going to pick up tree seedlings and was eating a simple meal prepared by his mother when three motorcycles entered their home, each with two people.

One of the officers told his father aside that they had come to arrest his son.

He introduced himself and said they were from the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department (DCI) in Nairobi.

“They didn’t give us much time. He said, adding that he was not shown any arrest document.

From Majego, the married boy and the father of one child, was placed in a Subaru car and transported to Nairobi.

Despite the sudden arrest, the family held hope when Ojwang was able to call his father briefly after arriving in the city.

“He told me he was being detained at the Central Nairobi police station,” his father said. “I got on the bus immediately to see him.”

After a night’s trip, he arrived at the center the next morning.

About four o’clock in the morning, he was led to the office of the Center Officer (OCS), who sent him to the Chief of the Police Department (OCPD).

“OCPD looked at me and told me that he had no good news,” His father remembered in a sad voice.

“My heart was numb. I immediately remembered all the young men who died after being taken in a similar way.”

That sad news fulfilled his great fear – his only son, the family’s hope, had died.

Ojwang’s father referred to him as a very intelligent young man, who had dream of changing his life and lifting their family as a whole.

As the only male child, his father tried hard to pay the school fee in the hope that he would one day shine.

“I struggled to teach him. I believed that one day he would change our lives,”He said.

Now, instead of celebrating its success, the family is preparing to bury him.

Ojwang’s death circumstances are still under investigation, with pressure on the authorities to explain what happened after its arrest.
