The Jamaican sprinter has been impressive so far this season, claiming podium finishes in all his 100m races, but has confessed his struggles heading into the race.
Seville was forced to finish second in 9.97 seconds behind Kishane Thompson, who claimed the win in a season’s best time of 9.88 seconds. South Africa’s Gift Leotlela rounded up the podium in a stunning 10.04 seconds.

The 24-year-old claimed that going into the race, he had discomfort but managed to show up and finish second, a good sign for him ahead of the World Championships trials.
Seville added that his start was not perfect, but he bounced back in the second half of the race, something that contributed to his second-place finish.
“For the last meet that I have run, I have a little niggle so to come out here and run, it’s actually good for me. I’m not satisfied with my execution, but I have grown conservative with my start, so I’m happy with the second phase of the race,” Oblique Seville revealed to Jamaica Observer.

He added that heading into the trials, he is ready to work smart to achieve a podium finish and represent Jamaica at the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Oblique Seville added that he will work with Kishane Thompson closely to bring Jamaica back to the top. He pointed out that Kishane Thompson is a good talent and working with him will for sure yield good results.
“I’m confident ahead of the trials, and I know that I’m going to do very well. It’s a good competition, knowing that Jamaica is back in the sprinting scene,” Oblique Seville said.
“For Kishane and I to put out this performance, it is something good going forward to the World Championships. We can push each other to reach greater heights.”
Oblique Seville will be eying his first podium finish at the World Championships after missing the podium on two occasions.
He finished fourth at the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon and also maintained the same position in Budapest, Hungary, in 2023.
