The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) interim deputy party leader, Cleophas Malala, has stated that President William Ruto will not rig the 2027 general elections.

He made the remarks during a stopover in Voi, Taita Taveta County, during a tour by DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua and his Wiper Party counterpart, Kalonzo Musyoka, in the coastal region on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

Addressing the crowd, he stated that those who helped the head of state win the 2022 general elections have united, and no single vote will be stolen.

“I was the Secretary General in Ruto’s  United Democratic  Alliance (UDA) party; Gachagua was deputy party leader. When we tell you this person (President William Ruto) is a thief, believe us, he is. We know him in and out,” he stated.

“He is trying to threaten Kenyans that he will steal votes. We want to tell you that those people who helped you steal that election are now here (DCP). There’s not a single vote he will steal. We have united,” he added.

DCP Party launch

Gachagua launched the DCP Party on May 15, 2025, in Nairobi. However, he has not been able to officially launch his political outfit due to venue cancellations.

However, the party vowed to proceed with its much-anticipated official launch later this month, despite the unexpected cancellation of its booking at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.

Addressing the press on June 3, 2025, following a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting chaired by party leader Gachagua, Malala revealed that the venue management abruptly cancelled the launch event, which was originally scheduled to take place at Kasarani that very day.

The DCP immediately launched a search for a new venue capable of accommodating the size and significance of the event. To ensure a smooth process, the party formed a special committee tasked with identifying a location that can comfortably host the expected crowd.

Malala said the party anticipates a turnout of between 40,000 and 50,000 attendees. He stressed that this won’t be just any political launch, and it must reflect the party’s bold vision and the growing support it commands.

“We have strategic friends who have offered various venues, and we have set up a committee to look into that because the number of delegates we are inviting is large. We are expecting between 40,000 to 50,000 people. This is not going to be an ordinary launch; it will be a launch of the people,” Malala said

Further, he stated that once the committee completes its report, the DCP will promptly share the new launch details with party members and supporters.

“We are considering capacity and amenities, and the committee will come up with a report. In due course, we will communicate with our members.”
