Former Mukurwe-ini Member of Parliament (MP) Kabando Wa Kabando has stated that Kithure Kindiki holds the Deputy President’s office illegally.

In a statement on Saturday, June 6, 2025, Kabando slammed Kindiki after he criticised former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) slogans.

“You are illegitimately in that DP office. Therefore, you’ve no authority to lecture anyone. Shut up. At most, WANTAM it is!” he stated.

In a post on X, on June 7, 2025, Kindiki stated that the development track record of a presidential aspirant is what will determine their win, as opposed to party slogans.

“What will count in the next election is one’s track record of pushing forward the development agenda of Kenyans across all the 47 counties.”

“Kenya will not care about empty slogans and vengeful schemes to determine who serves for how many terms in office,” he added.

This comes a day after Kindiki encountered a hostile crowd in Othaya, Nyeri County, that chanted “one term” slogans across the fence where he was holding an empowerment event.

The youth, who were outside the stadium’s perimeter fence, were repulsed by security officers as the event went on.

More police officers were deployed to take control, even as  Kindiki, in a verbal attack seemingly directed at his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, accused him of misleading the region.

“Haya mambo ya viongozi kuja kutisha viongozi wengine, yakome! Lazima tuheshimiane… heshima si utumwa. Huwezi kuja hapa nikama wewe tu ndio kiongozi unajua kila kitu… ati wewe ndio unafaa kusikizwa… kwani wewe ni Mungu?

Loosely interpreted as:

“This trend by leaders threatening others should stop. We must respect each other. You cannot portray yourself as a politician who knows everrything , that you must be listened to. Are you God ?” he posed.

Furthermore, he stated that the Kenya Kwanza administration will fulfil all its pledges to Kenyans.

DCP Party

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua unveiled his much-anticipated political outfit, DCP, on May 15, 2025.

Speaking at the party headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, Gachagua said that he has spent the last 6 months at his home holding consultations to help shape his political party.

He noted that his party has been forged on the backdrop of the need to provide better leadership for Kenyans and pull them out of the long-standing problems of poor governance.

“Kenyans have boldly told us they have a solution to the problems facing them. Kenyans have asked us to start a party which will form a government by the people for the people,” he noted.

He added that the DCP party has no preferred candidates and will prioritise the voices of Kenyans, hence the party slogan “Skiza Wakenya“, which means “Listen to Kenyans”.

The ex-DP added that the party is keen on inclusivity and has onboarded representatives from all groups across the country, including Gen Z.

The party’s symbol is a hand holding an ear, symbolising the act of listening to netizens, with its official colours being green, red, white and black.
