Nandi Hills Member of Parliament (MP) Bernard Kitur has revealed that he and whistleblowers face security threats following his efforts to expose illegal organ transplants linked to a private hospital in Eldoret.

Appearing before the National Assembly Health Committee on Thursday, June 5, 2025, Kitur detailed how his official vehicle was followed and blocked by DCI officers as his team gathered critical documents tied to the case.

Vehicle trailed

“Yesterday at 11:30, my vehicle around Brookside, which had some of my officers in there, was blocked by a DCI vehicle, KDP,” Kitur told the committee.

“Officers inside the vehicle, as one of the officers was able to notice, belonged to DCI. One PC, Sulke, Osman, Ndiema, and a driver. I wasn’t inside there.

“They thought I was. My officers were going to collect some of this information that I wanted to come with, because I’ve been working around to be able to get them.”

He confirmed that the team had picked up documents from Rupa Villas and was headed to Langas when the trailing began.

“They tracked my vehicle around Eldoret, and they cornered them near Brookside,” he added.

Whistleblower facing pressure

Kitur said one of the victims, Lea Chekure, was forced to flee her home due to harassment.

“It was even difficult for her, even in the first instance, to even do the O.B. [police report]. It had to involve a Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly to intervene.”

He added, “As I finish, Honourable Chair… I focused on these two to get it done because I have their videos.”

Security connections raised

The MP named senior security officials involved in obstructing justice. “The intimidation was because of the County Police Commander of Uasin Gishu and the CCIO and their team,” he said.

Asked whether the DCI officers acted independently, Kitur responded, “To be very frank and honest, the county commander and the county CCIO, you will always find them at Mishra’s place.”

“They are acting under the instructions and the influence of Mishra,” he added.

Kitur confirmed he reported the matter to the Inspector General and the DIG.

“This matter… was as recent as yesterday night. And the day you interrogate Leah, you will hear what she has been through,” he stated.

When asked how high the interference went, Kitur stated, “It is so high that it will be an allegation, and I will not mention the amount of even money that I know they have been paid.”
