Kenya Power has announced a temporary blackout scheduled to affect a section of Nyandarua, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Kakamega, Kiambu, Garissa, Tana River, Lamu and Kilifi counties on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
The utility company attributed this interruption to routine network maintenance.
“Good evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (5th June 2025). The interruption is part of network maintenance,” Kenya Power announced.
Specific areas
In Kiambu, the areas that will experience the outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm include the whole of Ruaka market, Getrudes Ruaka, Quickmart Ruaka, Boarder, Slaughter, California Road, Kanungu, Delta Ruaka, and Royal Brain. Similarly, Juja Farm, Athi, Kwa Ruhi, Juja Farm, Mukuyuni, Kwa Murage, St Michael Girls and adjacent customers.
In Nyandarua, the blackout will impact Kwaharaka and Mwendandu from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The specific areas, including the whole of Kwaharaka, Karangatha, Nyakio, Mukiri, the whole of Ragia, Cheese, Kenyatta Road, Magumu High School, the whole of Heni, the whole of Rwanyambo, Githioro, Gathanga, Bongo Girls and adjacent customers, should expect temporary service disruption.
Meanwhile, in Uasin Gishu, customers in Naiberi, Laini Moja, Kamiti, Losirwa, Lotonyok and adjacent customers will experience a power blackout from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
In Nandi, the 9:00 am to 6:00 pm blackout will affect residents of Mbelekenya, Mosoriot, Mutwot, Itigo, Kokwet, Tebeson and adjacent customers.
The 9:00 am to 5:00 pm outage in Kakamega will affect customers in Samitsi Market, Malava Boys, Mugai Market, Khalenda Market and adjacent customers.
In Garissa, residents in Sankuri, Balambala, Saka, Quba, IGRA, Bulla Buris, Sumeya, KPLC Pole Yard, Maua Millers, Garissa Solar, Raya, Sunshine and adjacent customers will experience a blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Similarly, in Tana River, the outage will affect parts of Loitoktok and Mwatate from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Specific areas include Sarova and Salt Lick Lodges and Hotels, Mwashuma, Bura, Nyolo, Zare, the whole of Kamtonga, Chungaunga KWS, Maktau, Maktau Town, Lumo Conservancy, Lions Bluff, Kwa Mnengwa, Godoma and adjacent customers.
Residents in Lamu Island and Shelle Village in Lamu County are expected to experience a blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The areas include Lawasko, Peponi Hotel, Palace Hotel, King Fahad Hospital, Kijani Hotel, Langoni Village, Shella Village, Mkomani, Kashmir, India, Bombay, Mkunguni, KPA Offices Lamu Island, KRA Offices Lamu Island, Huduma Centre Lamu Island, KCB Bank, Co-op Bank, Equity Bank, Matondoni and adjacent customers.
In Kilifi, the 9:00 am to 5:00 pm outage will affect residents and customer in Baharini Primary, Baran Kenya Kikamabala, Kadzengo, Kitchen King, My Pasta, Pwani Oil Ltd, Mega Couture, Afriware EPZ, Ndune Fish Farm, Revital EPZ, Tiger Packaging, Vipingo Industries, Vipingo Service Station, Majlis Msumarini, Safepak Ltd, Pride Industries, Total Amkeni, Madina Madrassa Center, Jallaram Plastics, Eagol Petrol Station, Awali Est, Palmridge, Vipingo Golf Stage, Swafaa Academy, Shariani Center, Shariani kwa Pope, Flamboyant Ltd, Fairdeal Park, Tiger Packaging, Mzuri Sweets 3, Sun n Sand Beach Resort, Swati Investment, Kikamabala Catholic, Kikambala Posta, Saafi Sana, Barani, Timboni, Kwa Kariuki, Rembo Apts, Bodoi, Bodi Pri, Salwa Ltd and adjacent customers.
Similarly, residents in parts of Mwango, Mkoroshoni, Basi, Mzongoloni, Mtondia, Tezo, Chumani, Magorani, Zowerani, Ngwenya, Roka and adjacent customers will also experience a power blackout.
