Bungoma – The driver of the trailer involved in a terrible accident that resulted in the deaths of two police officers in Matulo area, Webuye -Malaba Road, has spoken.

The seemingly shocking driver recounted sadly in the last minutes before the accident and thanked God for saving his life in what he described as a near death.

In an interview with Okhwa Lupao, the driver said that the accident police car was driven at a speed when it hit his truck.

According to the driver, everything happened in just a few seconds when the police car collided and killed the officers in it.

“I don’t know where the officers were rushing. He began to speak.

The accident was face -to -face, and the impact was so great that it completely destroyed the front parts of both vehicles, killing the two officers on the spot.

Their Land Cruiser car was badly damaged, but the truck driver left safely without injuries.

He thanked God for saving his life and promised to return to church after a long stay.

“I have seven children, and I don’t know how they would live if I died,” He said.

The South Bungoma South County Police Commander, Rodger Bosire, confirmed the deaths and identified the officers as from the Bungoma Railway Police Station.

He emphasized that the Land Cruiser was trying to pass another car and then collided with a train coming from the side of Malaba.

“We have indeed lost two loyal officers at work,” Said Bosire.

“We urge all road users to be more careful on our roads.”

The bodies of the lost officers were sent to the Webuye County hospital as an investigation into the incident was underway.

Police have pledged to conduct a thorough investigation into the crash, with pressure increasing demanding immediate road safety measures in the Matulo area.
