Why did Wetang’ula ignore Karua’s skill?
Speaking on Friday, May 30, in Mount Elgon’s parliament, Wetang’ula phoned Karua fiercely, stressing that he had never found any unique differences in Kenya’s law.
The Speaker questioned Karua’s decision to represent opposition leader Kizza Besigye in the country Ugandasuggesting that he wants to promote his professional reputation abroad after failing to prove his legal presence in Kenya.
“You are a lawyer in Kenya, we look at your records as an attorney and you have never had any differences in the law. In Kenya, no one values what you do as an attorney. Kenya wants to be at peace and have a good relationship with neighbors and its allies in the East African Community. Wetang’ula said.
The former Bungoma senator emphasized Kenya’s commitment to maintaining good relations with neighboring countries.
He also called on Karua and other activists to stop engaging in internal affairs Tanzania and Uganda.
He warned that such actions could jeopardize the peace and cooperation relations that Kenya has worked hard to maintain within the East African region.
Wetang’ula emphasized that protecting this diplomatic relationship is important for regional stability and long -term interests of Kenya.
“We do not want to have a quarrel with neighboring countries. I want to encourage our friends, our retired senior judges and other prominent Kenyans, please do not be the ones to cause a bad relationship between Kenya and its neighbors. We live together, do business, and we have more Kenyans living in those countries than their people living in Kenya,” Wetang’ula added.
Wetang’ula’s statement comes shortly after Karua, along with human rights activists, Gloria Kimani and Lynn Ngugi, was detained at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam.
The three had traveled to Tanzania at the invitation of the East African Law Society to look at a court case involving opposition leader Tundu Lissu, facing treason charges.
After waiting for an hour, they were informed that they were rejected and later deported in Kenya.

Was Karua praised in Uganda?
Despite being expelled from Tanzania, Karua remained firm in the fight for justice.
He was applauded by the “never surrender” when he entered the Nakawa court to represent Uganda’s opposition leader, Besigye.
In a court room filled with people similar to a public meeting, Besigye’s supporters clapped, singing, and even standing on chairs, showing a rare and courageous manifestation of unity.
Besigye, Hajj Obeid Lutale, and UPDF Captain Denis Oola were officially brought to the Ugandan court to answer charges of treason and treason.
