Koimburi’s lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, has accused the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of misleading the public over the Juja MP’s alleged abduction and assault, calling out inconsistencies and demanding accountability.
In a strongly worded statement shared on his X account on Thursday, May 29, 2025, lawyer Ndegwa Njiru dismissed the DCI’s narrative, insisting no officer from the agency had interviewed either Hon. George Koimburi or his close family to verify claims that he was unharmed.
Njiru questioned how the DCI director, Mohamed Amin, could publicly state that Koimburi was not assaulted if officers had been barred from accessing him at the hospital.
“The DCI is lying about Koimburi’s health status,” he wrote. “If you were denied access, how did you assess him?”
DCI faces questions
The lawyer also poked holes in the DCI’s claims regarding a vehicle allegedly tied to the case. “What is the chain of custody for the car you say belongs to Koimburi’s associate?” he posed, urging the agency to come clean.
Njiru further dismissed the DCI’s version that the MP had spent the night at an undisclosed hotel, calling it a “white lie” created to distort the facts. “Why haven’t you named the hotel? Is it because the hotel story is a fabrication?” he asked.
The DCI, in earlier statements, confirmed Koimburi had been under investigation for alleged land fraud and misappropriation of CDF funds but denied any involvement in his alleged disappearance.
Dumped in Kiambu
Koimburi was found dumped in a coffee plantation in Kiambu County earlier this week, visibly shaken but alive. He was reportedly seized by unknown individuals outside a church in Mugutha, Kiambu, on Sunday, May 25. His wife, Ann Koimburi, sustained injuries during the scuffle as she tried to intervene.
CCTV footage from the scene showed the legislator being bundled into a silver Subaru Forester with civilian plates. The family confirmed he was first taken to Plainsview Hospital near Ruiru before being transferred to Karen Hospital, where he remains under medical care.

As investigations continue, public pressure is mounting on the DCI to provide transparent updates and clarify inconsistencies that have raised more questions than answers.
