Orange Democratic Movement and National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohammed has poked holes in the suspected abduction case of Juja Member of Parliament (MP) George Koimburi, terming it the biggest political scandal in Kenya.
Speaking on the floor of the house on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, after parliament received the preliminary investigation report, Junet tore into what he said was a fake incident.
“From the report tabled in parliament, I can only term it as the biggest political scandal in our country. When I saw the first photo, from the way my colleague was sleeping, I knew this was a fake thing. From the shirt and the way the stomach was looking up, I knew this was nothing, but I had to reserve my comment and wait for the proper investigative report to be tabled before this house,” he added.
While condemning the incident, Junet further questioned why only an exclusive group of people were allowed to visit the patient, while a section of Koimburi’s colleagues from parliament were denied access to visit him.

“It is unfortunate that politicians can go to this extent to prove a point. Shockingly, the chairman of the security committee and his colleagues were never allowed to see Koimburi. The only people who were allowed were the Wamunyoro group, and any other persons were denied. People are allowed to see even patients in the ICU. For him, nobody was allowed to see him,” he said.
The further castigated former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s hand in the drama, linking it to a similar stunt pulled by Gachagua at the height of his impeachment motion in 2024.
“The director of this drama is one Wamunyoro. This is the same thing he did when he was running away from interrogation by the Senate during the impeachment. He went and admitted himself to the same hospital. So it is the same script. This country is full of drama. The same disease, same hospital, same doctor, visitors, and nobody else allowed to see you,” Junet said amid waves of laughter.
His comments come after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss, Mohamed Amin, revealed that Juja Member of Parliament, George Koimburi, orchestrated his own abduction.

In a telling revelation, the agency said that the officers trailed Koimburi’s movement from the time of his disappearance until the last moment he was discovered at the coffee plantation in Juja, but there was a mismatch.
“It is unfortunate for a whole member of parliament to go to that extent of stage-managing his own abduction, creating a lot of fear and tension in the country. Fortunately, we were able to expedite the investigations and expose to the public that the MP was indeed not abducted. We were able to account for all his movements from the time he attended church up to where he slept at night,” Amin stated.
“We have identified the hotel and the room number where he slept. It is also unfortunate that, being a victim, the investigative team was denied access to go and interview the member of parliament, who we believe did not suffer any injuries whatsoever,” he added.
