A section of residents in Majengo area, Nyeri County on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, stormed a police station demanding the release of a man believed to have defiled a 7-year-old girl before taking her life.
The angry residents, primarliy consisted of local traders at the New Open Air Market in Nyeri Town Stage, were armed and ready to kill the accused immediately after his release as they stormed the police station.
Police were forced to lob teargas canisters to disperse the agitated crowd demanding mob justice.

This was shortly after the lifeless body of the minor identified as Tamara Blessing was found decomposing at the accused’s house, after they demolished it.
The accused who is said to be a popular porter for traders at the market, was last seen with the 7-year-old girl on Saturday, May 24, 2025, prompting locals to search his house.
The body of the deceased was found hidden under the porter’s bed and police confirmed that she had been raped before being murdered and buried in the porter’s home.

“Alikua mtoto mzuri sana tulikua tunacheza nayeye kwa soko, tulikua nayeye Saturday, tukaskia amepotea, leo amepatikana chini ya kitanda akiwa amefanyiwa mambo mbaya,” a trader identified as Zipporah Wangari told the press.
The angry residents decried that there have been rampant cases of defilement targeting young girls in the area.
They strongly condemned the incidents, calling on relevant security forces to take prompt action against the perpetrators.
Separate incident
The latest comes a day after a three-year-old boy in was rescued from the hands of his abductors after a dramatic raid in Tetu, Nyeri County.
DCI revealed that the minor had gone missing from his home in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
The child’s devastated parents had filed a missing child report that was booked at Ruiru Police Station, prompting the police officers to embark on a painstaking investigation that led them to the Western and Central regions.
“Detectives have rescued a 3-year-old boy who was stolen from his home in Ruiru, Kiambu County, in a swift pursuit that has seen two male suspects taken into custody. Responding to a missing child report booked at Ruiru Police Station by the devastated parents, the officers embarked on a painstaking investigation that led them to the Western and Central regions, where supposed perpetrators were rounded up,” the DCI stated.
The officers are said to have stormed on one of the persons of interest’s houses, from where they found the minor with the house owner, whom they have identified as George Maina.
Another man identified as Samuel Juma, whom the police say is believed to have snatched the minor away from his Ruiru home, was also found in the raided house.
The anti-crime agency in the statement noted the child’s parents had been notified, as he undergoes medical examination in a hospital before he is reunited with his family.
