Nairobi – The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a statement related to a video distributed online on allegations of kidnapping by Juja MP George Koimburi.

Did the police kidnap MP George Koimburi?
In a statement on Monday, May 26, police spokesman Muchiri Nyaga dismissed allegations that security officers kidnapped and tortured the MP before throwing him into a coffee farm in Kiambu.
Ngaga said that the Juja MP had avoided intentional arrest in connection with the ongoing land fraudulent investigation.
The police department said that Koimburi was hiding after realizing that officers planned to arrest him on Friday, May 23, following approval from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to release the charges.
“The MP, after knowing the police’s intention to arrest him, avoided the net and deceive the officers for the motorcycle and his personal safety and turned off his mobile phone,” Nyaga said.
According to NPS, the Juja MP, who was not found in the weekend, emerged again on Monday amid allegations of kidnapping.
Now, the Office of the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating the false video to determine the facts of the kidnapping.

In the news related, former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua And several leaders from the Party for Democracy for Citizens (DCP) visited Koimburi at Karen Hospital.
Speaking to reporters, Gachagua said doctors have confirmed that the Juja MP had suffered soft tissue injuries caused by professional suffering.
The former deputy president also claimed that Koimburi had been exposed to dangerous chemicals that had affected his ability to speak.
Gachagua explained that Koimburi presented the statement in writing, as he is currently unable to speak.
The DCP leader added that blood and urine samples from Koimburi have been sent to private laboratories for further investigation to identify the substance involved.
