Rap heavyweight Khaligraph Jones has shown public support for budding artiste Cosign Black after an electrifying rap performance.

The ‘Mazishi’ hitmaker sparked buzz on social media on Monday, May 26, 2025, after reacting to Cosign’s recent performance with a trail of fire emojis on Instagram — a gesture fans quickly recognised as a major nod of approval from one of the biggest names in African hip-hop.

“🔥🔥🔥 🔥🔥,” Khaligraph posted a trail of fire emojis on a video of Cosign Black performing on The Next Super Star, a new talent search show.

Cosign Black, 22, who has become known for his lyrical style and bold stage presence, welcomed the attention with humility and optimism.

“I didn’t expect the praises I have received today, and I thank God for the opportunity StarTimes has given me,” Cosign said after the show.

“It’s my time to shine. I’m competing alongside talents like Andy Saharan, Switney, Rouwa, Snaidah Don Dada, and Jose Jay. This is my chance to showcase my talent and make Kenyan music great.”

The rap hopeful is among several rising acts gaining attention on The Next Super Star, a 13-week talent show designed to spotlight emerging Kenyan musicians across genres.

Last week’s episode also delivered one of the show’s most emotional moments when 13-year-old Sheila Wanjiru brought judge Size 8 to tears with a heartfelt performance.

The gospel singer, moved by Sheila’s raw talent, offered to personally mentor her.

“You are truly blessed and highly favoured. Good girl, my daughter — sings. I will walk this journey with you. I know you don’t have a trainer, but from today, I’ll be your guide and support. You’re not alone anymore,” Size 8 told the young contestant.

Hosted by Eddie Butita and Amina Abdi Rabar, The Next Super Star features a judging panel that includes King Kaka, Size 8 Reborn, and renowned producer Motif the Don, bringing together music expertise, industry insight, and mentorship under one roof.
