Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya began a major homecoming and prayer tour, travelling from Kisumu to Kitale on Monday, May 26, 2025.
The tour has become a strong show of his lasting political strength and the solid support he still enjoys from his people.
The journey started in Luanda, Vihiga County, where Natembeya was warmly welcomed by excited residents. “Muko wazima, muko chonjo,” he said.”
Next, he passed through Chavakali.
But it was in Kakamega that the biggest moment of the day came. The whole town came to a standstill as people flooded the streets to welcome him. According to K24, Natembeya was mobbed by supporters, with cheering crowds stopping everyday activities just to catch a glimpse of him.
Natembeya’s visit comes in the wake of his arrest last week on corruption charges. The arrest, executed by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) at his Kitale home, sparked violent demonstrations by his supporters.
Natembeya’s road to Kitale
From Kakamega, Natembeya’s journey will continue through Malava, where he is expected to speak about local political concerns that matter to residents. He will then head to Webuye and Bungoma.
The tour is also expected to pass through Chwele, Kimilili, Kamukuywa, and Kiminini, where Natembeya aims to encourage people to keep pushing forward, even when times are hard. Finally, he will arrive in Kitale, the last stop of the tour.
