Gloria Orwoba’s political problems have intensified after Senate Speaker Amason Kingi officially announced that his seat was open.

In a Government Gazette announcement issued on Wednesday, May 21, Kingi announced the position to be vacant under section 101 (2) of the Constitution, which was resolved by the use of section 98 (1) (b), which applies to elected members to represent specific interests.

“It is made public that in accordance with section 101 (2) of the Constitution of Kenya, the seat of the senator elected under section 98 (1) (b) of the Constitution, held by Gloria Orwoba, has been clear from May 21, 2025,” It says the announcement.

Gloria Orwoba opposes Uda’s action to excite her

This move follows the Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss his petition to oppose the expulsion from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Judge Lawrence Mugambi dismissed the request on Tuesday, May 20, referring to coordinating defects and thus invalid.

The judge noted that Orwoba had added new characters to the case without the court’s permission to make the amendment. As a result, the court found that the request did not follow the order and rejected it.

Orwoba had taken the case to court on May 19, protesting his removal from the UDA -led presidential party William Ruto.

Party UDA It dismissed the nominee Senator on suspicion of betrayal and openly violating the party’s values.

Why did Uda dismiss Gloria Orwoba?

The UDA party took the initiative to remove Orwoba from the Senate saying it was aimed at protecting the party’s solidarity and dignity.

The party’s general secretary, Hassan Omar, announced the decision in a press release issued on Monday, May 19, outlining a series of disciplinary measures that led to his dismissal.

The party’s disciplinary committee, after reviewing the complaints filed by members Festus Omwamba and Henry Muriithi, revealed that Orwoba violated Article 29 of the UDA Constitution.

After its removal, UDA appointed Consolata Wabwire Wabubi from Kimilili, Bungoma County, to fill the Senate position.

The nomination is in line with the party list presented to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) before the 2022 general election.

Gloria Orwoba called by the Disciplinary Committee in UDA

Prior to its removal, the UDA disciplinary committee had called ORWOBA to respond to allegations of violating the party’s ethics regulations.

In a statement obtained by TUKO.co.ke, the committee’s chairman, Charles Njenga, expressed three main allegations against him.

The first incident was ORWOBA’s participation in a welcome ceremony for former Internal Security Minister Fred Matiang’i at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on April 17.

He also attended the Matiang’i home welcome ceremony held at Gusii Stadium in Kisii on May 2.

In addition, Orwoba was filed with questions about the interview with Spice FM announced on April 22, in which he publicly criticized the government Kenya firstaccusing us of failing to manage several key projects.
