Kericho: happy after a woman who left home 33 years ago returned

Residents joined the family to celebrate the return of their brother, who had been lost for more than three decades.

Chelangat talks after returning home

Chelangat allegedly disappeared from home 33 years ago when she was a young girl.

He is said to be married to an elder of herding at the age of 16 and began living with him shortly afterwards.

“I couldn’t be able to go with him. I just went some places. I remember I was back home from school, I followed him. He told me he had prepared me food. Said Chelangat.

Chelangat’s mother, Bavina Kosgei, expressed her joy in returning to her daughter, saying she had prayed for this day.

Chelangat was welcomed with great joy, especially by family members who had lost hope of seeing him again.

How did Chelangat return home?

Chelangat said that when he returned to his consciousness, he decided to return home despite fearing that he would be lost.

He remembered he boarded a car to the nearest city and began to ask for a way to go.

“I found a good Samaritan who encouraged me and told me I would not be lost. He said.

Kipngetich added that when his sister arrived in Cherota, she asked how to go home using the name of their father, who was a prominent person in the area.
