Anthony Kibuchi, a respected officer in the Nairobi Regional Police, has died, leaving behind the family mourning his tragedy.

What led to the death of Anthony Kibuchi?
In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, Mathew Karimi, a family spokesman and nephew of the deceased, said Kibuchi died on Tuesday, May 13, after a long -term cancer.
Karimi said his uncle was hospitalized at the Kenyatta University Referral Hospital in Nairobi, where he was receiving treatment before his death.
“He has been fighting cancer since 2018. There was a blood appeal last week to improve his condition.
He added that the family expected Kibuchi to live a longer life after being declared a victim of cancer in 2022, but the disease returned and thus interrupted their hopes.
According to Karimi, Kibuchi will be buried in the newborn city of Kirinyaga, and preparations for the flight are already ongoing.
“He will be buried in his official residence on Wednesday, 21. Families and friends have been meeting to organize his funeral,” Karimi added.
What was the work nature of Anthony Kibuchi?
Kibuchi held several top responsibilities within Kenya Police, including being a Nyanza and North East Police Officer before leading the Nairobi Police Force from 2009 to 2013.
His time in Nairobi was accompanied by great efforts to curb the influence of the Mungiki gang.
He is remembered for developing cooperation between police and community, as well as in his legal conflict with Chief Justice Willy Mutunga.
Kibuchi, who died at the age of 67, was a major advocate for police reform and remained hoping that the proposed county police authorities would be implemented.
