The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has flagged a TikTok account as fake.

In a statement on Thursday, May 15, 2025, the transport regulator urged netizens to be wary of the suspicious account, noting that the authority only has a website, YouTube channel, X and Facebook accounts.

“NTSA cautions members of the public about a FAKE TikTok account. Please note that the authority communicates only through its official accounts: (X- @ntsa_kenya/ Facebook – NTSA KENYA, YouTube channel NTSA_Kenya and Website – http://ntsa.go.ke,” the regulator said.

Caution on payments

They equally warned NTSA service seekers not to pay any fees to individual or business accounts, noting that all payments must be made securely through the E-Citizen platform.

“All NTSA service applications and payments are made securely via the E-citizen platform,” the regulator indicated.

“Never share personal information with anyone. If you come across a suspicious account claiming to belong to NTSA, do not engage; report it immediately. Members of the public conned through such platforms should immediately report to the nearest police station for further action.”

NTSA is a transport service regulator which is in charge of applications, renewal of drivers’ licenses and storing driver records.

It also deals in booking vehicles for inspection, registering vehicles and transferring ownership of the vehicles.

The authority equally participates in road safety education and campaigns, as well as the registration of driving schools and ensuring they meet stipulated standards.

NTSA mandate

For organisations, NTSA is in charge of fleet management in terms of registering SACCOs, managing fleet accounts and ensuring compliance with regulations.

NTSA also deals in the application of various licenses including the Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operators and Road Service Licenses.

The other services offered by the transport regulator are advising the government on road safety policies, conducting research and audits on road safety issues and collecting and compiling reports on road accidents.

Additionally, NTSA actively participates in the formulation of curriculums for driving schools, reviews the lessons and oversees the testing and licensing of drivers.

NTSA was formed through an act of parliament in 2012 with a view of harmonizing the operations of the key road transport departments and helping in effectively managing the road transport sub-sector and minimizing traffic accidents.
