Makueni – A tragic accident on the road has resulted in the deaths of two people and others injured on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

Citizen reported that the tragic accident that occurred in the Malili area, involved Three Public and trailer.

How did the Makueni accident happen?

Deputy Commissioner of Makaa, Buxton Mayabi confirmed the accident, saying that three of the 16 passengers hit a trailer from the back on Tuesday, May 13.

“This is to confirm the accident that occurred at 5.30 hours today near Malili along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway,” Mayabi said.

According to Mayabi, the vehicles were traveling from Nairobi to Mombasa when the incident occurred.

Mayabi revealed that two people died instantly, while several others suffered various injuries and were rushed to Makaa County Hospital.

“Two people died instantly with injured victims being rushed to various hospitals in Kilungu and Sultan Hammud,” he said.

The deputy commissioner of the county called on drivers to be more careful while on the road to avoid such cases.

“My call to drivers is to be careful, especially during this rainy season, since the road is slippery. They should also ensure the distance to drive as it is easy to lose the brakes and cause accidents while driving near other cars,” he added.

The bodies were moved to the area’s mortuary pending the identification and examination of the corpse.

How many people died in a Molo accident?

The tragic incident occurred just days after 12 people lost their lives in a fatal accident along Njoro-Molo Road.

The tragic accident happened on Thursday, May 8, when the three public Nakuru K collided face -to -face with a truck in the Chebonde/arim area.

County police commander Michael Mwaura confirmed the sad news, revealing that all 12 people in the three, including six men and six women, died at the scene.

The bodies were transferred to the mortuary of Molo County, with eight rescuers being taken to various hospitals for treatment.

MCA Elburgon Njuguna Mwaura explained that the truck heading to Molo collided with Nissan which seemed to break the tire and caused the driver to fail to cope before the accident.

Mirria Waithera, a resident of the area, mentioned that the Nissan car was badly damaged, indicating that both vehicles were heading for speed.

John Mureithi, a passenger who was riding the damaged truck, reiterated that they were heading to Molo when the accident happened after Nissan crashed and hit their truck.

He explained that although he suffered only minor injuries, the driver was seriously injured and rushed to hospital, while good Samaritans appeared to help him.
