The two leaders laughed and posed for photos during a meeting at the presidency, quelling speculation of a deepening rift within President William Ruto’s administration.

Clash to calm

Their show of unity comes after Kindiki publicly rebuked Ruku at a major elders’ meeting in Mbeere North on Saturday, May 10, 2025, where the newly appointed CS had appealed for the tarmacking of roads in Siakago Constituency.

Kindiki took issue with Ruku’s remarks, warning him against using his new Cabinet role to criticize the government or incite citizens over unfulfilled development pledges.

“My younger brother Ruku, that flag is not just a piece of cloth—it’s a symbol of honour. Respect it and represent the government,” Kindiki said.

Reaffirming unity

Monday’s interaction at State House appeared carefully choreographed to cool tensions and reaffirm the DP’s working relationship with Ruku.

The CS, who assumed office on April 17, 2025, following the dismissal of Justin Muturi, is still finding his footing as he navigates the pressures of national leadership and local expectations.
