At least six people are currently being detained by police.

Police have already identified a person believed to be the chief suspect of the tragic incident; He is known as William Imoli Shighali.

On that evening of the event, on April 30, the suspect was seen wearing a white jacket with lines, a brown cotton hat (Marvin), blue jeans pants and brown boots.

He also had a black shoulder bag, believed to have the equipment used in the murder of a legislator.

Security cameras in the city caught the suspect being lowered near Parliament buildings in the evening, a few minutes before one o’clock at night, shortly before the MP was killed.

The CCTV photos published by TV47 show the suspect being brought out of Parliament, with the intention of tracking Were when he was leaving work.

He was seen being brought down by a white Toyota Mark Grande before riding a motorcycle to track down the MP. He was seen leaning on the pillar in front of the Equity Bank in business with Parliament.

Shortly after the suspect went down and waited, Were left the parliament for an hour and twenty -three minutes in the evening for a white Toyota Crown car.

Since then, the suspect has been tracking him by motorcycle.

The first Were station was Wabera Street in one hour and forty -nine minutes, where his guard went down and entered the shop of M-money to make transactions.

Imoli was seen passing near the M-Pesa store.

The security guard returned to the Toyota Crown car with the MP and continued their journey.

Were’s car headed to Ngong Road via Valley Road.

When it reached near the scene, there was only one car between the Toyota Crown and the suspect’s motorcycle.

After the incident, he quickly returned to the motorcycle and ran to the city center.

In a statement on Wednesday, May 7, the Criminal Investigation Department (DCI) reported to find a number of items, including pistols and reliable bullets were with the suspect during the murder.

Other items found include the shoes and the bag he appeared in the video.

The driver and guard of Were were also arrested to assist in the investigation.

The state’s chief medical doctor, Johansen Oduor, explained that the deceased suffered several shooting injuriesincluding the shot on the left hand where one shot remained and the other came out.

There were also two bullets on the left side of the chest, one from the right and the other remained on the spine.

Another shot entered through the upper part of the spine from the left and remained on that side.

Oduor noted that bullets burned vital organs including the heart, lungs, liver, and general blood vessels (aorta), causing serious internal injuries.

Other suspects arrested aside by Imoli are Juma Ali Haikai, Douglas Muchiri Wambugu, and David Mihigo Kagame.

The four were arrested in the Roysambu area, Nairobi.

Were will be buried on Friday, May 9, at his home in Kachien, Kasipul, Homa Bay County.
