Newspapers: 400 officers expected to return from Haiti as the fight against gangs continues

1. Daily Nation

The newspaper reported that approximately 400 Kenyan police officers sent to Haiti would return to the country.

The first squad of police officers fighting dangerous gangs in Haiti is expected to return in June after completing a one -year service in the Caribbean nation.

A spokesman for the International Security Assistance Mission (MSS), Jack Ombaka, said the officers were sent to Haiti on June 25, 2024.

“The officers signed a one -year contract, and that means that those who went on June 25 will return home soon,” Said Objo.

The MSS mission, led by Godfrey Otunge, has recorded two injuries since the start of the operation approved by the UN Security Council.
