President William Ruto And National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula traveled by different planes to funerals. Ruto was sitting next to German federation president Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender.
Other leaders in the funeral led by Cardinal Giovanni Battista re include British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, and US President Donald Trump.

Approximately 250,000 people were crowded in St. Peter and the streets close to witness the historic event. The Roman and Vatican authorities strengthened the defense to control the large crowd, with the Swiss guards, the famous Vatican forces with 135 members, standing on the watch.

According to his character, Francis asked for a simple funeral. He chose an empty wooden coffin instead of the cultural arrangement of a third-party coffin, a bullet, and an oak used for the preceding popes.
His body is lying in St Peter’s Basilica Church, where thousands of mourners planned to pay their respects.

Following the ritual, the pope’s coffin was transported in a Popemobile car to cross the Tiber River to the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica, to honor his burial requirements. This ritual departure makes Francis the first pope since today XIII in 1903 was buried out of the Vatican.

In his will, Francis asked for a simple funeral, and the tomb “on earth, without special decorations, with text only: Franciscus.”

With the funeral concluded, the Cardinal College now has up to 20 days to convene a conference to elect a new pope. The nine -day mourning period, known as Novemdiales, will also take place.

Pope Francis passed away on Monday, April 21, at the age of 88, just one day after the last appearance of Easter greetings from the balcony on St Peter’s Basilica.
In 2013, Francis became the first to lead the Catholic Church, inheriting Pope Benedict XVI retired. Throughout the papacy, he was known for his humble and informal style, which distinguished him from his predecessors.

Archbishop Anthony Nyeri of Nyeri was among the celebrities who attended the funeral of Pope Francis.
He had previously planned a trip to Rome for the Jubilee celebrations, but that time was accompanied by the death of the Pope.
In Rome, Archbishop Muheria joined the priests and fellow believers in St. Peter’s Cathedral to honor and participate in this holy service.
He shared photos and reflections on social networks, respecting the legacy of the late Pope and his memories of their interaction.
