Siaya: A suspect of a fire attack that killed 9 was arrested for enjoying a meal with his sons

Who is suspected in a fire attack Siaya?

Christopher Okello Owino, 56, was arrested at Kianda’s house after escaping earlier that day when he realized he was wanted by detectives.

The suspect was trapped by detectives while eating dinner with his children at home.

Investigators received information about where he was just a few hours after a tragic fire in Upanda Village, Sigomere, which led to the death of the whole family.

Local residents who contacted the suspect notified security officers after claiming he had traveled to their home in the village on the night of the incident.

With the help of local officials, police quickly arrested him and took him to Kibra police station.

His wife was arrested on Wednesday, April 23, after an oil spine, believed to be used to light the fire, found at their home in Sigomere.

Kibra area police commander, Patricia Yegon, confirmed the arrest of the suspect in an interview with TUKO.co.ke, saying they were cooperating with the Ugandan police to confirm his information before taking further action.

In a brief interview, the suspect confirmed that he was aware of his wife’s arrest and that he was detained at the Ugunja police station.

Investigating officers took their phones to be investigated and helped identify other parties involved.

Sources close to the accused stated that he was reportedly hiring several people and traveling with them to the village of Upanda at midnight to carry out the incident before returning to Nairobi.

On the evening of Wednesday, April 23, the accused called on church members to his Kibra home for prayer after his house was burned in a revenge attack by angry residents from Upanda.

Who was killed in a fire attack Siaya?

The victims of the terrible fire were identified as Ouma Opondo, his wife Wilkister Anyango, and their seven children: Lorene (17), Melvin (15), Sheila (12), Davis (9), Ryan (7), Noela (5), and Leon (6 months).

The family was asleep when the fire was started.

Sylvester Omondi, the bodyguard of the family’s house, remembered the tragic incident when he smelled the smell of gasoline around 6pm and rushed out where he found the house burnt down.

He tried to scream and break the door, but his efforts were not so false.

The deputy chief of the area, Robert Odongo, confirmed that he was notified of the fire at 7pm and cooperated with police to arrive at the scene, where they found the house still burning.

Preliminary investigations showed that the source of the fire may be a week, although authorities are still investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
