Judge Lucy Njuguna said that Waititu’s request to submit a new request was great and had to be re -heard.
He added that although the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Renson Ingonga, opposed the request, the court believes it is right to give the Waititu the opportunity instead of dismissing the request directly.
“I have gone through the Draft Appeal (bail), and in my opinion, the proposed amendment is essential to the right decision regarding this appeal,” Said Judge Njuguna.
Waititu was sentenced to 12 years in prison on February 14 for receiving a bribe of KSh25.6 million from a road contractor when he became the governor of Kiambu.
