Although he appeared publicly during the Easter Sunday worship service on April 20, as his first mark since being released from the hospital, the Pope seemed weak.

When the church begins preparations for its funeral, the Vatican News newspaper has published the spiritual will of Pope Francis, a personal document he wrote on June 29, 2022.

The covenant shows his permanent dedication of the Virgin Mary and the description of her funeral wishes.

The spiritual covenant of Pope Francis is released

On June 29, 2022, the spiritual covenant of Pope Francis begins with a statement of faith and reflects his commitment to Marian’s lifetime.

In it, he asks to be buried in the papal Basilica of St. Mary Major-area closely linked to his spiritual journey.

“When I feel the darkest of my earthly life, and with a strong hope of eternal life, I long to express my last wishes about the place of my burial,” He wrote.

He shared that in his life and ministry as a priest and bishop, he had always entrusted himself to the Virgin Mary.

As a result, he expressed his desire to want his remains to rest – awaiting the resurrection – in the Holy of Marian where he often stood to pray at the beginning and end of each of the Apostles’ journey.

The pope asked for a common grave, laid down, into a burial niche between the Pauline Chapel (Chapel of the Salus Populi Romani) and Sforza Chapel inside the Basilica.

He requested that the grave be simple and unparalleled, with the text “Franciscus” only.

“Let the grave be down – easy, with no special decorations, with text only: Franciscus,” He said.

He also noted that the cost of the funeral would be funded by the sponsor, and that he had already issued the required instructions to Cardinal Rolandas Makritas, a mysterious Commissioner of Liberia’s Basilica.

The last offering of torture

Pope Francisko concluded his will with the final message of faith and selfishness:

“May the Lord reward all those who love me and continue to pray for me. The suffering that has been the last part of my life, I give it to the Lord, for the sake of peace on earth and for the brotherhood among the people.”
