Several weeks have passed since Kenyans received information about Margaret Nduta, a 37 -year -old woman, from Murang’a County who was sentenced to death in Vietnam for drug trafficking.

What happened to Margaret Nduta?
Elected MP Sabina Chege He has broken the silence, and released new information on the fate of Nduta following diplomatic efforts to save his life.
Speaking in an interview with Kogi’s Corner, Chege revealed that the Kenyan government was able to intervene to suspend the execution of Nduta.

Revealed that after contacting the president William Rutothe Kenyan embassy in Bangkok contacted the Vietnam Authority, inciting a series of events that gave Nduta a way to save his life.
“The case was appealed.
Nduta, who was arrested in July 2023 on his way to Laos, was found with more than two kilograms of C*C*four in his clothing box.
He told the Vietnam authority that he was abused by a man known as Njoroge, who promised KSh 168,350 (USD 1300) to send a bag to a woman in Laos.
Despite his allegations of innocence and ignorance of the drugs, Vietnam prosecutors dismissed his defense and sentenced him to death. His execution was planned on March 17 at 8:30 pm.
Chege, however, maintained that Nduta could be a victim of fraudsters who cheat Kenyans looking for jobs abroad.

The MP also defended Nduta against rumors that he was a drug addict.
“He got his first passport for this trip. He has no child and worked in Ruai. Even looking at his life and home in their village, it does not reflect the person responsible for drug trafficking,” Chege said in defense of Nduta.
Chege added that there is still a chance Nduta can be returned to Kenya to answer charges under local laws, depending on how the appeal will be made.

Did Margaret Nduta previously transported drugs?
In a separate statement, a preacher living in Hong Kong claimed that Nduta might have previously understood the law in Ghana.
In an interview with NTV, Preacher and human rights activist John Wotherspoon said he had met the Kenyan during a meeting of the prison ministry who mentioned the arrest and Nduta in Ghana.
According to Wotherspoon, the prisoner later sent him a letter telling their experience after being released from prison.
The prisoner claimed to have been taken to the same house and threatened by people believed to have the origin of Nigeriaallegedly forcing them to transport drugs for threats to harm their family members.
