Matiang’i landed in Nairobi on Thursday evening, April 17, and was welcomed by a group of politicians led by Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni.

Kioni has been insisting that Matiang’i will be the Jubilee presidential candidate in the 2027 votes.

How Matiang’i landed in Kenya

Matiang’i, who was concentrated in the United States (US) after quietly leaving in early 2023, returned again on Thursday evening, April 17.

He was welcomed by many politicians led by Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni.

Kioni suggested that Matiang’i had returned to the country to announce his presidential goal.

“Everything ready!” Kioni tweeted.

The Jubilee party has declared Matiang’i to be the presidential flag in the coming vote.

But even when Matiang’i’s request is being voted on, some people believe it would be a good thing for him to succeed in it.

What should Matiang’i do with his presidential mission?

Raila Odinga It is among the people who question Matiang’i’s position in the presidential vote.

Speaking in Kisii last month, the ODM leader considered Matiang’i, a native of the Gusii community, may be relying on ethnic support for his political purposes, which (Raila) claimed to be inadequate for a person to get the presidency.

Due to his own experience as five -time presidential candidate, Raila advised Matiang’i to publicly announce his intention and build coalitions across Kenya if he really aims to lead the nation.

Matiang’i’s expectations were revealed earlier this year by Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka.

The senator, who often claimed to be a member of Matiang’i, expressed the confidence and appropriateness of the former minister in leadership.

Fred Matiang’i period in public service

From Nyamira County, Matiang’i gained a reputation for his consistent and strict position in the various government responsibilities he held.

His Public Service journey began in 2013 when Independence appointed him as Secretary of the ICT Cabinet.

The father of two, Matiang’i moved from the profession to the public service, after teaching at the University of Nairobi and the University of Egerton.

Shortly after the ICT Ministry, he later served as Acting CS of the Ministry of Land before taking on the responsibility of managing an education certificate.

Matiang’i gained great reputation for his efforts to end the exploitation of the national examinations, a common challenge until 2015.
