Most Kenyans would vote for Okiya Omtatah and David Maraga if the elections were held today

  • According to a vote made after President William Ruto’s visit to Mount Kenya, his team emerged in third place by 19.4%
  • Omtatah-Maraga supporters mentioned the main reasons for supporting the two are their position to protect the constitution

As the nation gets closer to the 2027 general election, political heat is already rising, with various leaders forming coalitions for the sake of staggering.

Among those who have expressed interest in running for the presidency is the former Chief Justice David Maragawhose name has appeared in political ranks with Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah.

The two are highlighted, especially from Kenyans criticizing the presidential administration William Ruto.

According to these critics, the goal is to restore good governance and to save the country from what they describe as extreme of corruption and poor leadership.

How many Kenyans would vote for Omtatah and Maraga?

A recent referendum made by TUKO.co.ke, which attracted 201 participants, showed great support to the Omtatah-Maraga team, with 40.8% of respondents saying they would support the two if the elections were held today.

The team led by Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindikiand opposition leader Raila Odinga took third place with 19.4%of the support.

The vote, shortly after Ruto visited Mount Kenya, also showed the coalition of Kalonzo Musyoka -Rigathi Gachagua -Eugene Wamalwa received 21.9% of the vote, while Fred Matiang’i -Reuben Kigame ticket earned 17.9%.

At the same time, as the coalition continues to change with new candidates emerging, the 2027 race promises to be one of the most unpredictable and most competitive options in recent Kenyan history.

Why will Kenyans vote for Omtatah-Maraga?

Some voters in support of the Omtatah-Maraga alliance cited their commitment to maintain the constitution, saying, “This team is known for fighting for the implementation of the Constitution.”
