Clement Munyau Katya is currently serving a life sentence in the Committee Prison.
In an interview with YouTube blogger Malenga Swahili, Clement said his problems started when he bought his daughter a phone.
What happened to Doctor Clement Munyau?
He explained that a mortuary, who helped him get a job at the hospital, sold the phone to him.
Justus said he needed travel money to attend his wife’s funeral in the village.

Since her daughter did not have a mobile phone, Clement agreed to help and pay KSh 2,000 more than KSh 1,000 of the Justus she asked for to make her happy.
“My daughter insisted on having a phone before continuing with Moi University, where she was a student. Justus came up with her desperate request, and I gave her KSh 2,000 and then I took my daughter to town, where she boarded a car Eldoret“he narrated.
Clement said everything looked right until a month later, when he started receiving amazing and silent calls.
“My then boss, Macalo, called me to his office and told me there were people calling him asking me where I was. Shortly thereafter, the detectives came to my job and asked,” he said.
As of here, she knew that her daughter and her boyfriend had been arrested and taken to the Kilimani police station.
Her daughter had given her boyfriend the phone, and when the spies followed it, they found her with it and they were arrested.
Who owned the Mtumba phone he bought Clement?
It was later revealed that the phone was originally Moses Gituma, the chief executive of the Kenyan Central Bank and his brother of the Police Commissioner.
Gituma had been killed in 2009, and his phone had been stolen during the incident.
Unknowingly, Clement bought the phone and gave it to his daughter, an innocent act that deprived him of his freedom.
“After explaining who had previously owned the phone, they checked the record and confirmed that on October 23, 2019, when Gituma was killed, I was a nightclub.
A KNH doctor is sentenced to life imprisonment
Despite fully cooperating and explaining the situation, Clement was detained and later sentenced to 30 years in prison.
After the appeal, his sentence was added to the death penalty, which was eventually transformed into a life imprisonment.
The doctor said he has now been in prison for 15 years for a mistake he insists he does not know anything about it.
“I was convicted illegally. I was jailed for an offense I did not commit. I have performed brain surgery, and I have never lost a patient once-so what crime did I commit to buying a Mtumba phone?” He complained.
