Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua He has claimed that his life is in danger, citing a series of attacks and allegations of killing him that began in November 2024.

In a letter to the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, Gachagua criticized the removal of his defense despite his case of being released from court.
He claimed the move left him in danger of being attacked by gangs of organized criminals allegedly working in cooperation with police and other government security agencies.
“The references to the above topics are referred to your immediate and focused action on my safety, of my family, my followers and my property. As you know, you have a constitutional role and the responsibility of protecting the life and property of every Kenyan as outlined in the Kenyan Constitution 2010,” Gachagua explained to the letter.
Is your life at risk?
Gachagua described a number of events, including one of November 28, 2024, during a funeral service in Limuru.
He alleged that his caravan was attacked, his vehicles were damaged, women and children were abused, and the property of unknown value was destroyed while police officers were just looking at it.
On December 28, 2024, the former DP claimed that the police inspector, accompanied by members of the criminal gang, attacked him with tear gas in Shamata, Nyandarua.
He said the intention was to disperse his supporters and create an opportunity for a murder attempt.
“The police inspector knows him well, and he has not been disciplined for disturbing the peace and attempted murder,” Gachagua said.
“He also listed other events in Kamukunji, Ack St. Peter's Cathedral in Nyeri, Naivasha Town, and recently, April 6, at the PCEA church KasaraniNairobi.
“In a church service in Mwiki, Kasarani, a army of angry bandits with swords and dirty weapons invaded the church I was worshiping and causing violence to women and children and not one police officer responded despite the police station a few meters from the church,” he added.

He also added that there were well -planned plans to attack his homes in Nairobi and Nyeri, as well as other assets across the country.
He claimed that the people involved in the conspiracies are known to IG. In addition, he accused government security officials of following him and his family members on vehicles with no registration numbers what he referred to as a bad intention.
He warned him that he would be held accountable if any acts of abuse or murder attempts were implemented against him.

In the same letter that was also copied to the President William RutoGachagua wanted to be arrested immediately and charged with the victims.
He also called for the restoration of his security information and the release of adequate protection at all public gatherings he attended as a national leader.
GLACUCE CALLED BY DCI FOLLOWING CLAIMS
In 2024, the Criminal Investigation Department (DCI) called Gachagua in their headquarters after making similar allegations about attempts to kill him.
Gachagua had claimed in an interview on October 20, 2024 that the government tried to kill him twice, first Kisumu Where secret officials were alleged to have poisoned his food, then Nyeri, where suspects of the national intelligence service were reportedly trying.
