Nairobi – The Supreme Court has ordered the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, to immediately restore the security details of the former Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi.

The decision, made on Friday, April 11, followed a request filed by Muturi against the State Law Office and the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).

What prompted Muturi to submit the request
Muturi's security reports were removed under incomprehensible conditions, a move that sparked outrage among its followers and politicians.
In response, the Secretary of the Cabinet of Public Service recently took legal action, saying that the removal of his security was a violation of his constitutional rights.
In his ruling, Judge Chacha Mwita, who led the case in the Mountains Law Court, noted that the request presented the underlying reasons for the intervention immediately.
He issued a directive of conservatives directing IG to restore Muturi's safety without delay, maintaining it until the case proceeds.
“At the same time, a conservative order is issued to direct the Inspector General of Police to immediately return or restore the security of Justin Muturi, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and not to remove the security or intervene in any other way until June 24,” It said the order that TUKO.co.ke gave him an eye.

The court set a clear schedule for the next steps, with the State Law Office and the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) needed to submit their response to request and application within 14 days.

Later, Muturi will have another 14 days to submit his additional affidavit and any written presentations.
The complainants will also have 14 days to submit their response, and thereafter the court will hear and highlight the presentation on June 24, 2025.
Judge Mwita's court's decision comes with a strong warning that disobedience will cause serious legal consequences.
“Be aware that disobedience or disobedience to the court order issued here will result in the consequences of punishment for you and to any other people disobeying and disobeying,” The notice was read.
Why is Muturi arrested
Elsewhere, the Minister of the Interior Kipchumba Murkomen has demanded an investigation be conducted against Muturi Regarding allegations of misappropriation of government secret documents.
Murkomen accused Muturi of preserving government sensitive receipts in his email, suggesting that the situation would result in legal action in other areas.
He emphasized that government documents are public property and should be handled with high -quality and compliance with the set protocols.
