Where was George Oduor trained?

In Oduor, Raila painted him like a gentle giant, recounting when they met.

He was officially appointed Raila's defender in 1995 but was previously involved as part of the youth team that provided security for Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and the Forum for the Restoration of Democracy (Ford).

Raila said that Oduor had problems with the authorities several times in his cooperation with the opposition and was arrested several times.

“Frequent fighting with authorities became part of his life. In 1997, he was arrested with several other young men and was placed in the Maximum Committee Prison for almost a year, because of activities he was not involved in at all.”

When Jaramogi died, Oduor was among the six young men who provided protection for the body while being transported from Nairobi to Bondo by road.

“His praise emerged at the time; he restrained himself but consistent with the crowd, respectful to the people and calm down under high pressure,” Raila said.

The Odinga family went through many changes in the family business with a political organization after Jaramogi's death, and Raila chose Oduor as a security guard and assistant.

“This was a very difficult and uncertain time.

Oduor was better exceeding expectations.

In a bid to strengthen his defense skills, Raila took Oduor for training abroad in Israel and South Africa.

“He could feel dangerous from afar and called for extreme caution or advised that we left the place immediately.”

In addition to his responsibility as a guard, Oduor took a while to understand the Raila family. Photos from the book of the late history showed him in a photo with the family, and even traveled with them to Montego Bay, Jamaica.
