Nairobi: The sad death of Sylvia Kemunto, a first -year student at the University of Multimedia (MMU) was found dead on March 30, with her body thrown into a roofing water tank.

According to the results of a corpse investigation released by government specialist Dr Johansen Oduor, Kemunto was hanged to death.
The 20 -year -old student of Mass communications and computer sciences also had self -defense injuries, signaling a struggle before his death.
“The deceased was hanged and beaten by something in the head that caused minor injuries. There are many injuries that look like defensive injuries. So to me, that shows me that this man was trying to defend himself before Bieng was killed,” Odor explained.
Who killed Sylvia Kemunto?
The alleged Kemunto killer, Phillip Eric Mutinda, a first -year student of electrical engineering, admitted to visiting his room with the intention of leading him.
He claimed that after he rejected him, they had a debate, where he pushed him and caused him to shoot his head on the wall.
He later realized he did not respond and thought he was dead.
The suspect further claimed that he folded Kemunto's body into a large jacket, and put it in his room for a while before throwing it into a roof tank.
The event has left the university community in shock, and many are calling for justice to the young student and an understanding of the university's relationship between students.

Kemunto's mother, Triza Kwamboka, was worried after sending her daughter money to take care of her by the church of the church, but her phone was not received.
He could not reach his daughter, Kwamboka traveled to the university, where he realized his daughter was not there.
On the day of his disappearance, his colleague Kemunto had gone to church, leaving him alone in their Block B room, number 90.
An investigation later revealed that Mutinda visited his room at one o'clock in the evening.
Eyewitnesses reported to see Mutinda struggling with a suit, believed to be Kemunto, as he moved it from his third floor to his Block E, room 301.
That night, Mutinda's partner saw the jacket in their room, but it had disappeared the next morning. Some days later, his body was discovered in the same suit on the roof.

According to a state surgeon, Kemunto had marks and other body injuries, which he could only find while trying to protect himself from the attack.
“There are many injuries that are seen as protective injuries. So, to me, that shows me that the deceased was trying to defend himself not to be killed, explained Oduor.
The Kemunto family has blamed Multi Media University for the death of their daughter. Through an attorney Danstan Omarithe family questioned the silence and non -involvement of the college in all stages of investigation since Kemnunto was killed.
“We are here in the mortuary waiting for the results of the investigation, but no university representative here. The deceased was killed inside the campus, which is a public institution funded by 55 million Kenyans. Luck ugly, ” Said Omari.
Phillip Mutinda restrained for 21 days
Meanwhile, Kibera Court Judge Zainab Abdul accepted the government's request to detain the suspect, thus allowing the authorities more time to complete their investigation.
Advocate Danstan Omari, representing the Kemunto family, referred to the incident as a clear act of the killing of women – sexually acting warned that it exacerbates the threat to women.
Abdul decided that Mutinda would remain 21 days while the student's murder was underway.
