Transport Minister Kipchumba Murkomen's remarks come after Justin Muturi claiming that he kept the government's sensitive documents in soft copy, which the Minister of Internal Security said could lead to arrest in other countries.
Speaking to reporters in Mombasa on Tuesday, April 8, Murkomen called for investigative institutions including the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the Ethics and Anti -Corruption Commission (EACC), and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to investigate Muturi about how he handled secret statements.
According to Murkomen, Muturi's decision to store the documents – is allegedly through his personal email – not only is it against the rules, but it can also be criminal.
“He says he has saved government documents in an email. In other countries, he could be arrested. The principle of dealing with government documents does not accept that,” Murkomen explained.
Murkomen was compared to Muturi's act to the 2015 case involving former US Foreign Minister Hillary Clinton, who suffered a thorough investigation using personal email to handle confidential information, saying the same standards should be used in national security.
“Documents discussed are not individual; they belong to the State. Hearing someone saying they have copied copies of the documents from the beginning is a sad thing,” Added Murkomen.
He also criticized Muturi for claiming that he saved the documents as evidence as president William Ruto He wanted him to participate in corrupt practices. Murkomen dismissed the allegations and asked Muturi to submit the evidence to the relevant institutions instead of making public allegations.

Murkomen Explains the reason for Muturi's protection to be removed
Commenting on the issue of Muturi's security, Murkomen explained that the removal of his bodyguards may have been a normal procedure after leaving the government as a minister.
He added that he would contact the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, for official details, emphasizing that security issues should not be abused as they are under the authority of IG.
“It is probably part of reducing the guards because it is not CS anymore. We should not be able to dissolve security issues. Unless that is sent up, it is not my decision,” Murkomen noted.
Earlier that day, Muturi had expressed concern about what he called a “threat conspiracy” by the government after discovering that his bodyguards had been removed without any notice.
He claimed that the move was a direct response to his position to oppose President Ruto's administration.
Murkomen is currently on a one -week tour of security issues in the Coast.
