The Criminal Investigation Department has called Githunguri MP Gathoni Wambui for alleged incitement of the crowd during a presidential visit William Ruto On Friday, April 4.

This is happening following a video circulating online showing Mumumba leading his voters to sing the slogan “Ruto must go” before Ruto's visit to their area.

Wamumba was seen leading a large crowd, who followed him closely while calling the head of state.

The MP who is a close ally of the former deputy president Rigathi Gachaguahe went to his X platform and announced that he had received a call to notify him of the call.

According to the Muumomba, he was called because the people of Githunguri, the location of his authority, were reportedly rejecting promises and false projects that were not implemented.

“Ccio of Kiambu phoned me and called me because Githunguri natives refused to be influenced by fake promises and projects that were not implemented. You can capture, but that will not change the truth!” Wamumba said.

The MP also appeared to criticize the head of state, demanding that every promise made to Kenyans were fulfilled.

The Muchumba is not the first ally of Gachagua to be called by DCI.

In November 2024, Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang'wa was called by investigators about the chaos that broke out at a funeral in Limuru attended by Gachagua.

This followed the fighting that was running during the funeral of the late Erastus Nduati at the Birdi Boys' High School Stadium, after the hooligans penetrated the event.

An online video showed the rioters demolishing the famous tent that Gachagua was sitting, causing him to rush to his safety without addressing the mourners.

Later, Gachagua issued a statement accusing the government of Kenya first By eliminating his safety, thus leaving him in danger of being attacked at Limuru's funeral.

Following the major events, DCI began investigating the issue and calling Senator Karungo to be questioned.

In a notice issued on November 28, 2024, the investigative unit stated that they expect the cooperation of the MP as they investigated the chaos.

The notification cited the destruction of unknown value assets and injuries caused by major changes to events.

Karungo entered social networks, accusing DCI of using threatening tactics to silence him and others who oppose the government.

He also described the frustration of Nyeri for the case that happened in Limuru.
