Vicent Peter Masawe went missing on November 20, 2024, during his honeymoon with his wife.

According to a statement shared on X by politician Boniface Jacob, Masawe left his wife for a short time to arrange the transportation of his in-laws but he did not return.

While continuing the activity, he called his wife and a close friend, claiming that a Land Cruiser was following him.

“While on his honeymoon, Vicent left his wife for a while to arrange transportation for his in-laws who were returning to Kilimanjaro after the wedding. Immediately after leaving to find the car, he made two calls—one to his wife (the bride) and the other to his friend Victor. In those calls, he reported that he was being followed by a Land Cruiser Hardtop while driving his car,” says part of the statement.

After those calls, Vicent and his car could not be found. Despite the family searching in police stations, hospitals, and even Mochuari, they still haven't found him.

What did the police say about the missing Tanzanian groom

After reports of the disappearance of the 36-year-old man, police officers said that preliminary investigations show that Masawe had debts, mainly due to a wedding.

It is said that he sold the car he had rented and used the money to pay off debts.

In addition, the police said there is a possibility that he faked his kidnapping, but the investigation of the matter is still ongoing.
