How were the husband and wife found dead?

The incident, believed to have happened several days earlier, was revealed when neighbors noticed a foul smell coming from the house.

The deceased woman, a 29-year-old woman reportedly working in the United States, was found dead next to her husband, Vincent, a 28-year-old doctor at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The couple was found holding hands, while the woman's body showed signs of decomposition.

Evans Nyambunde, Vincent's cousin, told TUKO.co.ke that the family became worried after several unsuccessful attempts to contact him by phone.

They then had to inquire about Vincent's whereabouts at work, where they were told he was last seen on Wednesday, November 27.

“We tried to call him many times, but his phone was switched off. When we inquired at Kisii Referral Hospital, we were informed that he was last seen on Wednesday,” Nyambunde said.

The local elder Yuvinalis Oyagi expressed his dismay at the incident and advised community members who are facing problems to seek help.

“It is heartbreaking for adults to decide to take their own life due to life's challenges. I encourage anyone who is struggling to speak up and seek support instead of ending their life,” he said.

The bodies of the couple were taken to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary while the police began to investigate the cause of death.

Authorities are investigating whether foul play was involved or whether the deaths were self-inflicted.
