Nyandarua Senator John Methu launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto, intensifying a political feud just days after their public confrontation in Nyandarua County. Addressing an opposition roadside rally in Kiserian, Kajiado County, on Sunday, April 12, 2026, Methu rejected demands for an apology to the president. Instead, he accused Ruto of indulging in perpetual complaints and political theatrics.
“Leo nimesikia akiongea hapo State House, akisema ati mimi nimuombe msamaha… wewe kasongo wewe, wacha kushinda ukilialia,” Methu said.
The senator did not mince his words regarding the president’s political future, “Ile kitu tuko sure ni ati tuko kadi na wewe ni one term,” he declared.
Methu further suggested that he might escalate his rhetoric even further, warning that he would abandon all restraint if the president continued to provoke him.
“Ukiendelea kunisukuma hata hiyo heshima nitatoa,” he added.
This latest outburst follows a dramatic scene in Nyandarua on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, during the requiem mass for the late Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho. When Methu took to the podium, he began lecturing President Ruto directly, forcing technicians to briefly cut off his microphone.
The lawmaker claimed the late Kiaraho had once warned regional leaders against joining the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), labeling it a “bad party.” Methu then turned his focus to the president, asserting that while he maintains respect for him as an elder, he harbors no fear of his authority.
Kwanza kabisa mheshimiwa William Ruto, bado mimi ndio John Methu. Sijabadilika, Bado mimi ni Methu wa zamani,” Methu said.
He continued his remarks with a defiant stance: “Na Ile maneno mheshimiwa Kwenya unaogopa ati nisiseme hapa, sitasema lakini ukinisukuma sana nitasema.
Once Methu regained control of the microphone, he resumed his critique of the president, specifically targeting a list of stalled infrastructure projects in the region. The Senator pointedly questioned why various roads and facilities promised by the Head of State remain incomplete, challenging the notion that raising these local concerns constitutes “playing politics.”
He confronted the President directly with specific examples of unfulfilled vows made during previous visits.
“But what I was telling you Mr President, Mimi nataka nikueleze jambo moja pekee yake kama senator wa hapa.
Methu posed.
The confrontation finally came to an end when organizers stopped Methu from speaking further. The intervention followed a direct dare the Senator issued to National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah regarding his ongoing verbal attacks against former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
