The meeting took place just a few weeks ago after the two who were friends turned enemies exchanged harsh words in different public meetings, a situation that showed their deep-rooted internal differences.
From the beginning, the tension was palpable, and the organizers of the mourning event took all necessary precautions to ensure that the volatile situation did not turn into chaos.
When they stopped to talk, it was clear that they were reading from different pages.
Gachagua used the opportunity to criticize him Ruto for removing him from power without honor and for betraying the area of Mount Kenya.
He reminded the president that he made an unforgivable mistake and should not rely on the votes of Mount Kenya anymore.
For 36 minutes, Ruto watched him intently while his former deputy launched fierce attacks against his administration.
When his turn came, the president did not mince words. He told Gachagua and his group that he did not need their permission to visit and interact with Mt Kenya voters.
Ruto expressed confidence that when the right time comes, he will bring down those who are leading the one-term slogan and tarnish his name.
He asked the leaders who support his administration not to be stopped or forced to worship anyone in order to continue politically.
But after the heated exchange, Kenyans were surprised when the two leaders shared photos of each other on their social media pages.
