Kalonzo and other opposition leaders claimed that the suspected hoodlums, whose faces were captured by CCTV cameras, have links with the Home Affairs PS.

The former vice president asked the President William Ruto to immediately fire PS Omollo and the police to take action against him.

“Those who attacked Osotsi are thugs of PS Omollo. Raymond Omollo must resign immediately, be fired by President Ruto by tomorrow or face legal action. Get ready to go home!” said the Wiper leader.

According to the Wiper leader, the opposition will initiate personal charges against Omollo if the police fail to arrest those responsible for the Osotsi attack.

“There is no reason why the people who attacked Osotsi have not been arrested so far. If they are not arrested by this time tomorrow, we will start the process of initiating personal charges against the Chief Secretary for Home Affairs, Raymond Omollo,” said Kalonzo.

On his part, the leader of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), Eugene Wamalwasaid the opposition has evidence linking the thugs to Omollo.

“We have evidence that the thugs who attacked Osotsi are known in Kisumu City and we have confirmed that they are Raymond Omollo’s people. We demand that he resign!” said the Malwa.

Speaking at the same press conference, the Kakamega senator, Boni Khalwale, called for the immediate resignation of the Minister of Internal Affairs.

“I want to ask the DCI to use the same efficiency they used when Ong’ondo lost his life, PS Omollo and Murkomen should resign,” said Khalwale.

What Gachagua said about the Osotsi attack

On the other hand, the former vice president Rigathi Gachagua issued a strongly worded statement, condemning the attack on Osotsi.

In the statement, Gachagua described the incident as political violence and lawlessness that has no place in a democratic society.

The former vice president said the 2010 Constitution provides freedom of movement and peaceful assembly regardless of political affiliation.

According to Gachagua, the attack on Osotsi is among the many recent cases of threats aimed at leaders opposed to the Kenya First Alliance.

The leader of the Democratic Party for the People (DCP) called on the National Police Service to take strict action against the suspects who attacked the Vihiga senator.

Gachagua wondered why President William Ruto’s administration was threatening the opposition if it had even presented its agenda to Kenyans.
