Siaya: Kizazaa Residents Find 2 Men Dumping Body on Busia-Kisumu Highway

Detectives in Siaya County have launched an intensive investigation into a gruesome murder case after two men were arrested for allegedly trying to dump a body on the side of a busy road.

The shocking events happened in Ugunja, where residents near the Savannah area along the Busia-Kisumu Highway stopped a vehicle suspected of carrying the body of the deceased.

Witnesses say that suspicion quickly turned into panic after residents discovered the body of an unknown person lying lifeless inside the car.

Quickly and with strong emotions, a crowd of people gathered and confronted the two suspects, and gave them mob justice before police officers from the Ugunja Police Station arrived at the scene.

The officers intervened and rescued the men, preventing further damage in an incident that has left the residents of the area in shock.

The suspects, identified as 43-year-old Joseph Omondi and 38-year-old Calisto Oyugi, sustained injuries during the attack and were rushed to Ambira Sub-County Hospital for treatment.

After receiving medical care, they were released from the hospital and are now detained at the Ungunja Police Station while the investigation continues.

At the same time, the body of the deceased, believed to be that of a man aged about 45 years, was found with a visible wound on the head.

The body has been moved to the hospital mortuary, where the authorities expect it to be identified and a postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

The police also seized a white Toyota Vitz car with registration number KCB 949N, believed to be used in the attempt to dispose of the body.

The incident has raised concerns among residents, with many calling for quick justice and improved security measures along the road.

Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and allow the law to take its course while detectives continue to gather information about the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
