Senator Methu’s microphone is muted as he shouts at Ruto: “I am not afraid”

Nyandarua Senator John Methu caused a stir during the funeral of the late Ol Kalou Member of Parliament David Kiaraho after giving a courageous speech in front of senior political leaders.

President William Ruto and his deputy, Kithur Kindikiwere among the celebrities who attended the ceremony.

Former vice president Rigathi Gachagua he was also there, sharing the stage with his former boss.

The situation took a dramatic turn when Methu, as the host senator, was invited to welcome the guests and address the mourners.

In his explanation, Methu stopped recognizing Kindiki and instead recognized the leader of his party, Rigathi Gachagua.

Then he addressed him Ruto directly in a speech that drew strong reactions from the crowd.

“Mr. President, it has been a long time since I last saw you. From here in Nyandarua, I want to say this. I, John Methu, a sane adult and a senator from Nyandarua, I respect you as the president of Kenya, the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, and as a parent, since your children are the same age as mine. However, despite that respect, I want you to know one thing, I respect you, but I am not afraid,” Methu said, drawing cheers from the mourners.

Moments later, his microphone was momentarily muted as the master of ceremonies tried to stop him and urged him to control his words.

However, Methu stood firm and insisted on continuing.

He continued to challenge the president regarding a series of development promises that he claimed have not been fulfilled.

“You told us that the Kinamba-Karangara-Haraka Road would be paved, but that has not happened. We were with you in Shamata, and you said the Kariamu-Shamata Road would be improved, but that has not happened. You also promised that the Ol Kalou Stadium would be completed in 10 months, but it is not yet complete,” Methu said.

“You came here and said the road from Ol-Donyo Njeru to this area would be paved, but nothing is happening, Sir. When I talk about these issues, is that politics?” he added.

He further claimed that some of the president’s allies fail to give honest opinions.

“Your friends often play dumb and don’t tell you the truth that the locals are saying,” he added.

Methu also invited Gachagua to feel at home in the area, noting that although he was removed from power in Nairobi, he was now among his people.

The late Member of Parliament is buried at his home in Gachwe village, Karau Ward, Nyandarua County.
