Nyandarua – President William Ruto and his former Deputy Rigathi Gachagua they have sat together on stage for the first time since his removal from power.
Wednesday, April 8, Ruto and Gachagua were among the leaders who were at the mourning mass for the late Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou David Kiaraho at Nyandarua University grounds.
Did William Ruto greet Gachagua Nyandarua?
Other leaders who were at the tense event are the Deputy President Kithur Kindiki and the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula, as well as many senior government officials.
The tension began to increase since the leader of the Democratic Party for Citizens (DCP) announced his intention to attend the service.
In a clear sign that the mourning mass has a political meaning, once he arrived, Ruto greeted everyone except Gachagua, who was greeted with cheers on his arrival.
Tension marked the memorial service when a policeman was heard saying that only the former Vice President was allowed to enter the VVIP section.
The policewoman gave strict instructions as officials arrived at the high-profile event, saying, “You, what? Just let Gachagua in but don’t let others pass,” while Nyandarua Senator John Methu, a close ally of Gachagua, tried to reach the restricted area.
After arriving at the memorial service, Gachagua sat beside Tourism CS Rebecca Miano and Nyandarua senator John Methu.
Did Kiaraho’s wife recognize Gachagua?
In another incident, some photographers accompanying the former Vice President were reportedly removed from the VVIP platform by the president’s security forces when they tried to get photo opportunities during the mourning mass.
The wife of the late Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou David Kiaraho, in her speech at the funeral service, recognized Ruto, Kindiki, and other leaders present but did not clearly mention the former Deputy President.
