net – Former vice president Rigathi Gachagua has taken steps to calm his followers in the memorial service of the late MP for Ol Kalou David Kiaramo.
Speaking at Nyandarua University grounds on Wednesday, April 8, Gachagua asked mourners not to mock the President William Ruto.
In his speech, Gachagua explained why he attended the service: the late Kiaramo was his longtime friend.
“Member of Parliament Kiaraho was threatened to remove me from office through removal from power. He refused to be bribed, and that is why I am here to honor him. A person who can never betray his brother and his community is a great person,” Gachagua said.
Amid fears that the crowd might boo the president, Gachagua urged the mourners to remain silent while Ruto delivered his speech.

Gachagua, who declared himself the leader of Mount Kenya, asked his followers not to shout ‘wantam’ when the president stood up to speak.
“There will be no conflict here. Ruto should be given his respect; if he goes to a place where he is not listened to, and when he is done, let him go. Let us not listen to ng’we or wantam! Even if we have problems, we will settle there before the election. For now, let him do what he needs to do,” Gachagua said.
