Cynthia Njeri Mburu started the challenge of hugging a natural mukuyu tree outside the Kiambu county governor’s office.

His determination attracted many people, with many coming forward to encourage him and support him in his mission.

In pictures shared online during the challenge, he was seen holding the tree with great firmness and unwavering determination.

Among those who visited him in the area was governor Kimani Wamatangi, who encouraged him and supported his efforts.

He also made sure that he gets 24-hour medical attention as well as protection while continuing the challenge.

The girl started the tree-hugging marathon on Friday, March 27 at 1 p.m., hoping to finish on Friday, April 3.

However, after 128 hours, his body could no longer tolerate the situation. Exhausted, he had to stop. He lost consciousness and was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Despite falling short of her goal by several hours, the 17-year-old was widely praised for her courage and determination to inspire change through protest silent.

Speaking to governor Wamatangi, Cynthia explained that she was defending the rights of Gen Z. She noted that her decision to hug the tree was symbolic, representing conservation and respect for natural heritage.

He also expressed his sincere desire to inspire respect for the Kenyan flag, encourage peace, and honor the lives of the youth lost in the recent protests.
