Speaking on Sunday, March 29, Gachagua claimed that SHA it is a fraud designed to absorb public funds and that it is not planned to reform health insurance, which may lead to operational failure.

He said hospitals, especially religious ones, are owed more than KSh 90 billion that have not been paid, a situation that puts them at risk of being closed. Gachagua urged hospitals to stop providing services under the SHA program unless they are paid in advance.

However, Ruto he dismissed the allegations, saying that those who oppose the SHA have no real interest in the well-being of Kenyans but are looking for personal interests.

According to Ruto, after hearing Gachagua’s allegations, he took time to investigate the source of the statement that SHA will collapse within six months.

“The one who says SHA is not working, first of all, he has not registered. Another has never been sick so he knows if SHA is working or not. The other is a politician who does not care about SHA,” he said.

“I heard someone the other day saying he had information that SHA will collapse within six months. Because I am the president, I tried to investigate where he got that information,” Ruto added.

The President explained that the claims of Gachagua and his allies are baseless propaganda.

“I found out that he (Gachagua) went to talk to local healers and witch doctors, who gave him misleading information,” said Ruto.

The national leader continued to criticize Gachagua, listing the previous claims made by the former vice president which were later proven to be false.

He also dismissed the opposition’s claims that there is no ongoing construction work on the Rironi to Mau Summit road extension project, saying that work is ongoing.
